Flood in the House

About three/four weeks ago, *Saturday on February 20, 2010, after 9pm* I was drinking an orange julius *not the alcohol beverage* and watching NCIS when all of a sudden, I heard a loud pop. First, I thought one of the cats was knocking stuff down, so I went up to find what was dropped. I come into the dining room/kitchen and notice that I have a 'water fountain' coming from my kitchen cabinet that is under my sink!

I started to freak out, trying to figure out who I should call. First, I thought of my assistant manager of the complex but thought it was a bad idea since she doesn't live in the complex any more. Then, I decided to call the complex's After Hours. I tried to remain as calm as possible to tell them that a pipe busted and I needed help. The guy was such a jackass. He didn't try to understand what I was saying, so I hung up on him after repeating myself five times. I automatically called Becky to have her call the After Hours for me. By then, I was freaking out and couldn't calm down. It took a couple of repeats and for me to calm down. Becky called and then she called me back to let me know that somebody was coming. She asked if she should come down *she lives like five minute away from me* and I told her yes, it was bad.

While waiting for Becky and a person from maintenance to come in, I opened my front door *in case I didn't hear the person knock*, and tried to figure out how to turn off the water. I knew there was a way, but I didn't know how! Becky and the supervisor came in at the same time. By the time, my entire kitchen, dining room, small parts of my bedroom, and living room was flooded. My feet were completely covered by water.. and I have small feet.

Becky decided that my cats and I were going to spend the night at her place. We didn't realize how bad it was and wouldn't find out 'til the morning. They had to use blowers for 24 hours to dry the floors, relace the carpets after the 24 hours, and replaced carpeting in two of my closets with vinyal. I had to stay with Becky for three nights, four days. I'm so thankful for her. I wouldn't know what I would do without her!

I came home after the fourth day, on Wednesday, my place was still a diaster. I had atleast three holes in the walls, my kitchen was a freaking mess *they didn't clean up after themselves*, my TV stand was broken, and I have mold in my walk in closet.

The following Monday, Tuesday, everything is finally set and done. I have no more mold, the holes are fixed and covered, and my place is normal. That was the LONGEST week anda few days ever. My cats were finally happy to be home and back to normal. I never, ever, want to go through this again.

There ya go, my latest adventure.. fun stuff huh?

Brandi's Visit/Bryce's Birthday

Brandi is my mom's first born from her first marriage. Her dad and step-mother were the people who raised her so I did not grow up with Brandi. Last time my younger sisters and I saw Brandi was in the early 90's.. like 1991. I'm not quite sure.

We lost contact after we saw her last until Brandi found me on MySpace about five/six years ago. I knew that we were going to get in contact one way or another, just didn't know how it was going to happen. For the last few years, we've grown close.. well as close as we can get since we only communicated through e-mails with occasional phone calls and cards. The last few months, my two younger sisters, Becky and Janet, started to communicate with Brandi as well.

Brandi's birthday is in January. Her fiance, Paul, decided to send Brandi here to visit us as her birthday present! We all decided that February, around Bryce's birthday, would be the best time to have her visit us. February 11, 2010, Brandi came in Denver and saw her for the first time in about 18 years.

I'll be honest, we were aaaaaaaaaaall nervous, but that's normal and human, right? I think so. She stayed with Becky since she had a guest bedroom and her own bathroom. We all went to Chili's the night she came in. Chris joined us after we got back into the Springs. We had a lousy server, but the food was good!

The next day was Bryce's birthday. Wow, he is now five years old.. he's getting to be too big too fast. We all went shopping to get stuff for his party and then hung out at Becky's house. Bryce and Abagaile then finally got the chance to meet Brandi. They stayed with Becky's friend, Kyle'ea the night before.

Bryce had a blast for his birthday. Got pretty awesome stuff like books, clothes, soccer ball and pads, blankets, and bed stuff *mainly Thomas the Tank Engine*

On Saturday, Brandi, Becky, and I hung out for the day. I don't even remember what we did. I know that Chris made dinner for us that night.. and we all went to a special store.. that's all I'm saying about that!!

Sunday morning, all the sisters and cousins went out for breakfast. Brandi was leaving that afternoon so we decided to eat breakfast. We wanted to go to IHop but they were so darn busy, so we ended up going to Village Inn. It wasn't too bad. We had to drop Janet and Abagaile off, just in case we couldn't get back into town in time for Janet to go to work.

We said our Goodbyes at the drop-off at the Denver Airport. We are now planning on seeing her and her family at the end of May. She is getting married in Illnois.. since that's where she lives, so we're flying out there for her wedding. I can't wait to meet my niece and nephew, Eileen and Brennan and to meet her future husband, Paul!

There you have it folks. I hope you enjoy our little reunion!
